Lines of Light
PDX Contemporary Art
January 2 - February 2, 2025
Solo exhibition of new work at PDX Contemporary Art
Moonlight, Starlight, Sunlight, Twilight, Rain, suggest those fleeting moments when you see lines of light through the clouds, the rain, reflected on the water – when you try to connect the dots of the stars in the sky.
The materials used are precious and ordinary: mother of pearl, white gold, and palladium; cardboard and jute. A watery mix of pigment and shellac allows the incidental and unexpected in the process. These are attempts to put geometry and materiality to something that is ethereal, much in the way golden rays seen in centuries of religious painting suggest miraculous spirits.
